When I was newly baptized (14 years ago) I was on the ministry with one of the Service Committee. When I asked him a question, he replied, "Your problem is that you ask too many questions". Lovely!!!

The reports of my apostasy have been greatly exaggerated
by sparrowdown insince finding the meetings too morally repugnant to attend (coupla months now) i have.
been reaquainting myself with the joys of sat morn's at home.. imagine my disappointment to find the group study overseer and his wife pulling up out front.
the thought bubble over my head read "oh poo, poo and double poo!!".

Only by meeting those requirements can they show themselves worthy of being resurrected and qualified for the weighty responsibility awaiting them in heaven, namely, serving as priests and kings with Christ over mankind for a thousand years.

by Frazzled UBM inafter a long and frustrating houe search in london we finally found a place that fitted all our requirements and my wife seemed happy with and i was successful in the bidding process and had our offer accepted even though it wasn't the highest beacuse we can exchange contracts quickly and now we have lawyers working on exchanging contracts soon.
so everything is going swimmingly and then my wife demands that we go and look at a house being offered by the same agent we used to make the offer on the house we are buying.
i am like wtf, if we ask the agent to see another property they will tell the vendors for the place we are buying and they will revoke acceptance of our offer and we will be back to square one.

some regrets, not about leaving the cult obviously, but sometimes when i read about people slowly fading and keeping in touch with family and friends i wonder if we should have done that.
of course it was before the internet in 1989 so we didn't know about people fading.. one day we were driving along and we had been talking about moving congregations because we knew something was wrong but of course we thought it was local.

I think of the situation which Peter, Andrew, James & John, (and the others!) were in, prior to meeting up with Christ. They were decent people who must have been sickened by the behaviour and corrupt teachings of their priesthood, but they didn't D/A from their faith, just the false practices of their religion!
They knew the scumbag religious leaders would destroy their family lives if they highlighted the falsehoods of the clergy. Nothing changes, does it?

SMIDDY - The context and wording of Romans 8:13 which speaks of "the Lord", indicates that it is referring to Jesus, not God Almighty! The Jews ALREADY knew God and had faith in him, (mainly) but the name by which everyone could get saved was the name of JESUS CHRIST, not the Divine name! Hence the reason why Jesus' name had to witnessed about, not God's name.

Disassociation
by evilone inhi all, i haven't posted here in quite some time.. just as an update, about two years ago, my wife and i moved to a big city about 500 miles away from the town in which we grew up.
we made this move in part to expedite the fading process, which was successful.
when we moved, as i described in an earlier post, we formally transferred from our home cong (where our families are) to a local cong in our new city, and then transferred twice more so as to get lost in the shuffle.

Your relocation strategy was good - don't spoil it by contacting anyone! If they stumble across you in the future, just thank them for their concern and politely decline ANY suggestions or invitations! They'll eventually dismiss you as a waste of time/fuel and visit you once each year to invite you to their second Great Spectator event - the Memorial.
(Of course we all now know that the Annual Meeting is number one now!)

Unquestioning obedience

it used to be mildly subtle the way the words were couched.. then they came out with, what they have repeated recently, that it is necessary to obey, even if you cannot understand the reasons, cannot understand why you are being asked to do something.. as a born in i knew nothing of it being a cult, and was only aware of the mind control in a foggy sort of way, accepting it as their way of trying to keep control.. but when i saw those words about unquestioning obedience, my blood ran cold, it then hit me that something was wrong, badly wrong.. how did you react ?.
